Deputy Secretary Campbell’s Meeting with Brazilian Secretary General of Foreign Affairs

Deputy Secretary of State Kurt M. Campbell met with Brazilian Secretary General of the Ministry of External Relations Maria Laura da Rocha today in Washington, D.C. for the semi-annual U.S.-Brazil High Level Dialogue.  In honor of the 200thanniversary of diplomatic relations, Deputy Secretary Campbell and Secretary General da Rocha reaffirmed the importance of the bilateral partnership to advance shared regional and global priorities.  The Deputy Secretary discussed U.S. support for Brazil during its G20 presidency and welcomed Brazil’s leadership in the region to promote democratic ideals, respect for human rights, climate action, and the clean energy transition.   The Deputy Secretary expressed U.S. solidarity with those impacted by severe flooding in southern Brazil and announced an additional $800,000 in U.S. support through the United States Agency for International Development for Brazilian relief efforts bringing total US assistance for the floods to $1,000,000.
